Workshop on the Administrative requirements for the Movement of Goods: CARIFORUM-EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA)


In fulfilling its mandate to “conduct consultations with stakeholders on subject specific areas of the CARIFORUM- EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA)”, the Customs and Exercise Division in collaboration with Antigua and Barbuda EPA Implementation Unit within the Office of the NAO for the EDF – Ministry of Finance, the Economy and Public Administration hosted a one (1) day workshop on the administrative procedures for the movement of goods as stipulated by the EPA on October 20th, 2011 at the Training Division on Lower Church Street..

The workshop was designed to provide guidance to participants on the requirements for completing the administrative forms and procedures for the movement of goods into the European Union (EU) market, including the Movement Certificate EUR 1 Form.

Twenty-six (26) persons participated in the workshop which included brokers, customs officers, and exporters. Many of the participants who attended the workshop remarked that, “the workshop was very informative, and extremely helpful in understanding the process to comply with the EPA for the movement of goods.” The Unit will continue the dialogue with stakeholders to ensure that Antigua and Barbuda maximizes the benefits of the Agreement.

The workshop was facilitated by representatives from the national EPA Implementation Unit, namely the EPA Implementation Coordinator, Ms. Barbara Williams and Customs and Trade Officer, Ms. Alana Benjamin.
